High-Density Birch Plywood: The Structural Skeleton

High-Density Birch Plywood: The Structural Skeleton

  • Multi-Layered Strength: Our chassis is CNC-milled from 18mm high-density Birch Plywood. This specific grade offers superior weight-to-strength ratios and is virtually immune to the warping or structural deflection that plagues mass-market sofa beds.
  • Precision Geometry: Utilizing CNC technology allows us to maintain tolerances within 0.1mm. This precision ensures that the governed motion system aligns perfectly every time, preventing the “mechanical slack” that leads to creaks and wear over time.
  • Sustainability: We exclusively source FSC-certified timber. Our commitment to high-density birch ensures that the Foldrona is not a disposable product, but a long-term architectural investment.

LiFePo4 Energy Architecture: Safety as a Standard

LiFePo4 Energy Architecture: Safety as a Standard

  • Thermal Stability: LiFePo4 is fundamentally stable. It is structurally immune to thermal runaway (overheating), making it the safest energy storage solution for residential and hospitality environments.
  • Industrial Longevity: While standard batteries degrade after a few hundred charges, LiFePo4 cells are rated for thousands of cycles. Combined with our efficient ~140-cycle-per-charge logic, the battery is designed to outlast the upholstery itself.
  • Voltage Consistency: The 12.8V system provides high-torque, consistent power to the motor, ensuring the 20-second articulation remains smooth and silent even when the battery is low.

Commercial Performance & Fire Compliance

Upholstery is the functional skin of the Foldrona. We prioritize textiles that can withstand the rigors of high-traffic use without losing their architectural silhouette. Our base offering is a heavyweight 550g/m2 technical textile engineered for high-frequency use and structural stability.

  • Abrasion Resistance: Our curated collection features heavyweight textiles with a 45,000 Martindale rating. This is a “Heavy Commercial” grade, engineered to resist pilling, stretching, and thinning over years of daily use.
  • Fire Compliance (FC Ratings): For our B2B and hospitality partners, we offer textiles that meet strict European and International safety standards, including Crib 5 (BS 5852) and EN 1021-1/2. This ensures that every Foldrona unit is legally and structurally ready for boutique hotel integration.
  • COM (Customer’s Own Material) Support: We understand that unique interiors require unique textures. Our Sofia studio supports COM integration, allowing architects and designers to provide their own specified fabrics while we handle the technical upholstery and tailoring.

The Studio: Where Engineering Meets Craft

Foldrona is a product of the Sofia Engineering Hub—a region renowned for high-performance hardware and software development.

  • The Calibration Phase: Manufacturing is a hybrid process. While our Birch Plywood frames are precision-cut by machines, the final assembly of the electronic drive and the application of the textiles are performed by specialized architects and engineers.
  • Global Support Architecture: Our operations bridge two continents. The engineering and manufacturing core in Sofia, Bulgaria, works in direct synchronization with our R&D and support center in Maryland, USA. This dual-footprint ensures that our technical expertise is always accessible to our global clients, regardless of their time zone.
